Juanita S. West of Houston, TX passed away peacefully at home among family on Saturday, April l5. She was born May 22, 1926 in Cleveland, TX and grew up as an only child. She was educated in Houston at Booker T. Washington and attended Tillison College. Later, she was married to Clifton E. West for over 60 years. Together, they had a son, Clifton West Jr., and a daughter, Viveca West Jackson.
Juanita worked as a school secretary and as a budget analyst for the Department of the Army, retiring in 1993. She was baptized in the Episcopal Church and is a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Houston. She was also a member of The Silhouettes, a social and civic club.
While Clifton was in the military, they traveled together to Germany and Africa. Juanita is survived by her husband, Clifton E. West; son, Clifton E. West, Jr.; daughter, Viveca West Jackson; sister, Sewilla Scott; first cousin, Ira Scott; Sister-In-Law, Annie Ruth West; her family friend, Johnnie Keys; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
