Juanita Price Smith age 97 moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. She was born April 14, 1922 in Rochelle, La to Wyatt Earl and Blanche Boyd Price. She was a traveler from an early age as her family moved sometime during her first year to join her mother’s family in South Dakota. Then to Los Angeles, Ca when she was about 2 years old, to Phoenix, Az when she was 6 or 7, to Georgetown, La when she was 9, then to Pollack, La when she was 11. She graduated from Pollack High school in 1938 when she was 16 years old.
Soon after graduating she began working at Camp Livingston. She was hired by the Post Exchange office. While working here she says she met “The Love of Her Life” and future husband. Robert “Bob” Smith of New Haven, Connecticut. Bob was a 1 st Sargent recently back from serving 2-3 years in the Pacific Theatre. They married in 1946 and resided in Alexandria, La. Juanita worked at Baptist Hospital during this time. In 1948 they moved to Houston for better Job opportunities. Juanita worked for East End Citizen Newspaper until June of 1950. At that time, she went to work for PGAC, (later bought by Dresser Industries.) where she was a bookkeeper. She worked her way up to Accounting Supervisor and retired from Dresser Industries in 1983, after 33 years of service. Juanita and Bob moved to Pearland in 1988 and joined Shadycrest Baptist where she served on the teller committee for many years. They loved traveling the world and visiting Bobs family in the New England area.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Bob Smith and her sister Delores “Dee” Romeike and niece Jacqueline “Jackie” Gherlone.
She is survived by her niece Lizz Salinas, great nephew Christopher Rogers, Nephew Richard Gherlone and wife Helen, great nephew Rick Gherlone and wife Pam, their daughter Rileigh, great niece Susan Beth Higgans and Husband Robert and their daughter Onalee Collins and son Kristofer Collins and wife Carrie. A niece Betty Ann Faulhaber and her daughters Liane Rippingale, Elizabeth Bone and son Christopher D’Este and their families. She also leaves behind a number of caring neighbors and church family.
Juanita and her family were greatly blessed by the love and care she received from so many friends. Special appreciation to Sarah Jackson for her many years of friendship, love and care, Amy Redus and family for their unending support, love and compassion.
Deepest gratitude is extended to the staff at The Lakehouse on Dixie and Heart 2 Heart hospice care team. Juanita was lovingly cared for and we are forever grateful.

A visitation will be on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM at Shadycrest Baptist Church with Funeral Service beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
