Josephine spent her childhood years on a farm outside of San Antonio. She moved to San Antonio as a young adult where she met the love of her life William “Bill” Whitehouse. They were married in 1957. After the birth of Mark in 1958, Bill left the Air Force and they moved to Houston in 1959 to raise a family and make a home. After the birth of Donna and Kenny, they moved to the Aldine area in 1969.
Josephine focused her life on being a housewife, homemaker and mom to her three children. She loved gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and always had a passion for learning. She was very accomplished with sewing, needlepoint, embroidery and crochet. Everyone loved Josephine’s beautiful needlework.
Josephine’s main focus was always on her home and family. She always provided kindness, support and love for the entire family. In her final days Josephine said, “she is proud of her family and loves them all very much”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Whitehouse, brother, Theodore Dilla and parents Veronica K. & Theo Dilla.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark Whitehouse, Kenny Whitehouse and his wife Cathy; daughter, Donna Gray; five grandchildren, Joshua Caten, Jordan Caten, Renae Whitehouse, Sarah Whitehouse, Mark Whitehouse II; two great-grandchildren, Caleigh and Soriah; sister, Mary Dilla and nephew, William Dilla.
A visitation for Josephine will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel of Chimes, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
