Jose (Joe) Tijerina is survived by his wife Diamantina Tijerina of 45 years, daughters Dayna Pinkerton, Kathryn Nichols, and Maggie Bernard. He joins his loving parents Trinidad and Tomasa Tijerina and sister Elizabeth Bustos in Heaven. He leaves behind his brothers Mike, Peter, Felipe, and two sisters Rosalinda and Joyce. Joe (Popo) was loved and will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Ahmiley, Roman, Emilia and soon to arrive, Baby Conrad.
Joe was a loving father, husband, grandfather, neighbor, friend & coach.
Joe loved the Lord first and foremost and carried his cross with Parkinson’s with grace until the very end.
Joe was a graphic designer for 30+ years with Exxon Coal & Minerals and with Enron until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He enjoyed coaching softball & basketball for his girls. He was proud to say he coached 32 teams in total. He would often be seen running the streets of Katy training for an upcoming marathon. He would fill his spare time writing stories and poems as well as, painting. Joe was a good man filled with the Holy Spirit often seen helping a neighbor, or giving to those in need.
A graveside for Joe will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11:00 am. Joe will be laid in Memorial Oaks Whispering Woods Estate.
