Jose Luna, 85, of Houston, Texas, entered into rest on February 4, 2019. He was born Sept 24th, 1933 in Houston, Texas to loving parents Manuel Luna and Evangelina Flores, and was the 10th of 12 siblings.
Jose was a retired Army Major and dutifully served his country for 20 years. He graduated with a Bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska. He married Mary Ann Lujan and was widowed in 2009 after over 60 years of marriage. Jose was actively involved in local politics, The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), and a variety of charitable organizations.
Jose is survived by his current wife Mrs. Martha Reyes; children Linda E. Snelgrove, Bernadette Jimenez, and Michael Luna; grandchildren Deanna Mann, Maria Soliz, Elizabeth Sanchez, Mark A. Medina Jr., Megan A. Medina, Mallory A. Medina, Madison A. Medina, Edwin N. Montana, Christopher Mann Jr., Alyssa Ensign, Adriana Ensign, and Gabriela Guzman; sister Jane Luna Reiger.
Mr. Luna was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His hobbies included playing guitar and the harmonica, singing karaoke, and much more. Jose led a very full life and will be missed very much. Bittersweet... He is gone but finally reunited with the love of his life.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a reciting of the holy Rosary. The Celebration of Life service will commence on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., after which the family would like to invite Jose's friends and loved ones to a catered reception which will be held inside the Magnolia Room of American Heritage.
