Jonathan Rudolph Barajas made his entrance into our world on September 3, 1980, in Houston, Texas. He would be a little brother to his sisters - - Roxanne and Jaclyn. Growing up in Houston, Jonny attended Alief Hastings High School.
Throughout his youth, Jonny loved playing sports but had a special love for basketball and baseball. He spent many years with his father on the Little League field. Jonny would follow in his dad’s career in surveying and construction.
The greatest accomplishments of his life were his children - - Christian, Sophia, Emily and Anthony. Although circumstances had him living in Austin, while they were in Houston, he was always available for them.
He will be missed by so many people. We will miss rooting with him while watching his beloved Astros play. We will miss his great laugh. But most of all we will miss his kind and generous heart. After all, people like Jonny don’t come into our lives every day.
We find comfort in knowing that Jonny is now at peace, resting in the arms of God. And while we are sadden, we know that his mom, Sylvia, and him are having the time of their lives in heaven.
Jonny was preceded in death by his mother Sylvia in 2015 and his wife Melissa in 2008. He is survived by his children Christian, Sophia, Emily and Anthony; his father Rudy; his sister Roxanne (Ali) and their children; his sister Jaclyn (David) and nieces Isabelle and Alexa.
A Celebration of Jonny’s life will be held Saturday May 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, Texas 77077.
Guests are encouraged to wear Astros jerseys or shirts in honor of Jonny’s favorite team.
