Johnnie Pearl Whitfield

She was born in Slaton, TX on December 21, 1930. Johnnie grew up in Levelland, TX and attended Levelland High School. She moved to Houston in early 1950’s, where she worked as a medical secretary. She married her husband, Jon Landen Whitfield, on April 23, 1957 in Houston, TX.

Johnnie was a beloved member of the community and could frequently be found volunteering for local schools. She held leadership roles in the Parent/Teacher Associations (PTAs) at Sinclair Elementary, Hamilton Middle School, Waltrip High School, and the H.I.S.D. Council of PTAs.

Johnnie is survived by: her loving husband of 58 years, Jon Landen; her daughter Mary Beth Whitfield (Michael Sanchez); her son Jon Mark Whitfield (Erin); her granddaughter Alexandra; and her grandson Ian. Johnnie is also survived by: her sisters M. Aline Brock and Alta Craft (Roy); and her brother George Brock (Carolyn). Johnnie is preceded in death by: her parents Elizabeth Bell (Baskin) and Wesley Allen Brock; her sisters Eudora Brunson and Thelma Oliphant; and her brother William Brock

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Westheimer on Thursday 10/22/2015 at 5-8pm. Funeral services will be Friday 10/23/2015 at 10am.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to The American Diabetes Association.
