John A. Palacios, 58, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2015. He was born on October 17, 1957 to Johnnie Herrera Palacios and Margaret Lopez Palacios in Houston, Texas. John was a dear husband, father, brother, and friend to many people. He dedicated his life to teaching martial arts to children, teens, and adults. His studies included; Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan, Kempo and Kung Fu. He played a father role to many single parents whose children needed a father figure, a friend and mentor in their lives. He loved and impacted all of his students, young and old. He watched the young students grow into wonderful adults who now have families of their own and brought their children to him to pass on the discipline and training to the next generation.
In 2001 he was part of the USA Team WKA which competed in the World Championship in Vienna, Austria. He helped train other team members as well as competed with the team against 83+ countries with a total of 2500 competitors. That year the USA team brought home 10 medals, it was an amazing year.
John is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Mayra A. Palacios; children, Delilah L. Palacios, Rebekah A. Palacios and John Arthur Palacios; siblings, Gabriel Palacios, Alex Palacios, Danny Lopez, and Tina Palacios; and one grandchild, Aiden C. Baok.
He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 1:00PM in the Grand Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery.
