John J. Dibello, 50, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017. John was hopeful, courageous, and strong until he took his last breath. He had moments of fear, but he faced cancer head-on. He tried to continue to live his life with as much normalcy as possible and fought cancer and death with tenacity. He never gave up the fight!
He was a native Houstonian, graduating from Northbrook Senior High School in 1985, where he was a four year running back and field goal kicker for the Northbrook Raiders. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1993, with a B.S. in Business.
His drive for life, after his diagnosis, was to see his son, Drew, graduate high school. Well, John not only lived to see that proud moment, but he also saw his son go on to the University of St. Thomas. John, Drew, and his father, Joe Dibello, were friends as well as hunting and fishing buddies. John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family at the deer lease and made many lifelong friends in the process.
John also had a lifelong love of cars, trucks, and repairing things. He turned that into a long career at Stewart and Stevenson before building his own industrial engine and transmission company, Mid Coast Engine and Transmission in 2009.
John leaves behind his wife, Karen Walter; son, Drew Dibello; stepson, Matthew LeBlanc; parents, Mary Ann and Joe Dibello; sister, Joanne D. Bauarschi; brother-in-law, Ray Bauarschi; niece, Nicole Bauarschi and a large, extended family and so many friends, there are too many to list.
Pallbearers will include Henry Joe Kopesky, Joey Kmiec, Joe Anthony DeForke, Geary Green, Joe Salvato (Bubba), Joe Charles Trombatore (honorary), and Ronnie Kmiec.
Family and friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home at the Chapel of Angels on Sunday, March 19, from 2-5 p.m. John’s funeral service will be held Monday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in the Grand Chapel.
