Joanne Marie Baird

Joanne Marie Baird, age 81, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born to Robert and Hassie Lorentzen on March 3, 1942 in Inglewood, California. She graduated from Gladewater High School in 1959.

Joanne was married to the love of her life Bobby “Bob” Baird and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. She loved being a mother to their daughter Laura and a grandmother to Kayla.

Joanne worked at Spring Branch Hospital in the medical records department for 9 years and then went on to become a dental assistant. She was a loyal parishioner at Oak Forest Baptist Church for many, many years, until her health prevented her from doing so.

Joanne was always a giving person throughout her life. It made her happy to see others happy and smiling. She never missed an opportunity to smile and greet someone kindly and she was always there to listen and offer an understanding and positive feedback.

Joanne was so crafty. One of her favorite things to do was sew. She enjoyed cooking for the family and everyone who stepped foot into her home. She also loved to shop. There was not a time that you did not see her out and about shopping for that next big sale.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hassie Lorentzen; and sister, Gail Lorentzen.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby “Bob” Baird; daughter, Laura Dean and husband Frank Dean; granddaughter, Kayla Dean; and brother, Paul Lorentzen.

In keeping with Joanne's wishes, no formal services will be scheduled at this time, but her life will be celebrated in the hearts of family and friends and her memory will live on always.
