Joan Turner Tissue passed away on March 18, 2016. She was born to Pauline and Hobson Turner on March 18, 1934 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Joan attended Sam Houston High School where she was the majorette her senior year for the Black Battalion drill team. She attended University of Texas where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi sorority. She worked in the banking industry for many years and retired as the VP of loan services for Interfirst Services Corporation. She married Joe Tissue on November 25, 1955 and they were married for 52 years. She was active in the Junior League of Houston, Timbergrove Little League and many other bridge and social organizations.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tissue. She is survived by her son, Mike Tissue and wife Bridget; daughter, Michelle and husband Brad Manos ; grandchildren Austyn and Dylan Manos, Camden Tissue and wife Amy and great granddaughter Quincy Rose, Kelsey and husband Jeff Smith, Kailey and husband Mike McCollum, Kaygan Tissue and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1pm at Forest Park Funeral Home 12800 Westheimer Road. Following the visitation, a service will be held in the Chapel at 2pm.
Gran / Woo Who was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had so much pride in her family and all of the activities. Mike and Michelle would like to say a very special “thank you” to all of their close friends for years of great times and fantastic memories with Joan.
