Joan was born in Fort Worth, Texas on the 7th of April 1939 to Betty and Irvin Tarses. She attended the University of Texas - Austin where she met her husband Leon (Bubba) Daily. Bubba and Joan married on the 17th of July 1960, and relocated to Galveston where he attended medical school. They then returned to Houston where he continued his medical training and they started their family.
Her passion for retail led her to opening several businesses. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and friend, Joan was involved in many charitable organizations. She was president of the Houston Chapter of the Edna Gladney Home; she worked tirelessly for The March of Dimes Foundation galas; she was a founding member of VICTROY, the Houston fundraising arm of the American Cancer Society which organizes the Cattle Baron’s Ball. Most recently she served as a docent at Rienzi, of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.
Joan and Bubba had 50 wonderful years together. During this time they enjoyed traveling, entertaining, vacationing at their Lakeway home and spending time with their many friends and relatives. Her most joyous moments were spent with her grandchildren who playfully referred to her as “Gigi.”
Joan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Leon (Bubba) Daily; and their two sons, Brian Daily, his wife Lynn, and Paul Daily. She is also survived by her loving and devoted sister, Carolyn and her husband Dickie Solar; and sister-in-law Judith and her husband Barry Kaufman. She will be sorely missed by all, especially by the joys of her life, her three grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle and Kevin Daily.
A special thanks to her dedicated and loving caregivers Edith Abdul-Haqq, Maggie Caballero and Margaret King.
