Jewell Lavetta Boucher Davis passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, the 23rd of August 2015, in Houston in the loving presence of her family and devoted caregivers.
She was born in Chillicothe, Texas on the 6th of February, 1920 to Dr. R. T. Boucher and Jewell Adams Boucher. After graduating high school there, Jewell attended college in Austin, Texas majoring in Business Administration. Her career was in government service. She was manager of the Garden Oaks Postal Station for many years and worked in the Personnel Office at the downtown Post Office. Upon retirement from Government Service, she was employed by the George E. Failing Oil Drilling Company where she worked for a number of years until her second retirement.
Jewell was an active member of Second Baptist Church where she was a member of "Nothing But the Truth Bible Class, "The Winning Walk", "Mission One", "The Moving On Group" and the Family Life Center. She loved her church dearly and was strong in her faith.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Burton M. Davis, her parents, and all five of her brothers and sisters. Jewell and Burt enjoyed traveling and spending time with her sisters and their husbands and 4 nieces and nephews including an annual family fishing trip to Port Isabel. Jewell moved to the Forum at Memorial Woods almost 12 years ago where she made many friends enjoying her years there. She loved music and dancing especially to the songs of Roy Orbison.
Left to cherish the memories are two nieces Janis Coffee (Roy) Judy Ronshausen (Chuck) and 2 nephews Don Gardiner and Bob Pettit (Tanya) and a number of great and great great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel at 10:00am on the 5th of September officiated by Rev. Brad Goad with Eva Walters soloist. Jewell lived a long and beautiful life and was lovingly cared for by her devoted caregivers and honorary family members Esther Bernal, Maria Maldonado, Sara Avila, Rubi Avila, Maria E. Gonzales, Maria Lizama and Vania Gonzalez.
In lieu of flowers if so desired contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church at 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas.
