Jessie was born in Houston, Texas on February 26th, 1946. He grew up on the East End in an area known as Magnolia Park located near the Houston Ship Channel. Jessie was a graduate of Charles H. Milby High School. Soon after graduation, he entered the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the service in 1969, Jessie was married in 1970.
Jessie attended the University of Houston and earned a B.A. in Economics. He worked in the oil and gas industry with a career history spanning close to 40 years.
Jessie had many talents and passions. He loved to travel with his family and we are grateful to have photos and fragmented memories as reminders of our vacations together. Jessie loved music and on early Saturday mornings you often heard him singing mariachi music or whistling a favorite tune. He also played the guitar and quickly “You Are My Sunshine” became one of our favorite songs. Jessie also coached his kids’ baseball and softball teams and volunteered to teach CCE to church youth.
Jessie was known as “one of a kind” and even though he was partially disabled the last few years, he still had his great sense of humor and was always up for cracking a joke.
Jessie will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and as a man of great character. He was a generous soul and had an unconditional love and loyalty to his family and friends.
