Jerry enjoyed sports growing up. He played football in high school, and played amateur fast pitch softball as a young adult. Jerry & Linda moved to Houston in 1973. In 1975 he became a journeyman carpenter, and would continue in this trade until he retired in 2016. He worked on the buildout for multiple high rise buildings that shape the Houston skyline. Jerry loved God and enjoyed going to church, where he would help in the youth department. He was a fair weather Astros and Texans fan at best, and would have choice words to say about them no matter how they were performing. Jerry was a "competitive" Uno player. Although debatable, he and his Uno partner, Charlie, claim that their team, The Maulers, hold the title of Uno Champions for over 30 years. He enjoyed life and would always try his hardest to get a laugh out of you. Whether it be a goofy face, gesture, or corny joke, he wouldn’t be satisfied until you were grinning and possibly rolling your eyes. He brought joy to those around him, and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Ascend Hospice Care Inc. for providing assistance during Jerry's illness. A special thanks to Amanda who lovingly provided daily care.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Sanchez Means & Allen Means; father-in-law, Edward Wayne Wallace; brother-in-law, James Thompson.
