Jerry Leslie Guidry went to be with the lord on April 19, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on November 22, 1930 in Jennings, Louisiana to Seeley Cyprien Guidry and Grace Mary Courts Guidry. Jerry moved to Texas in 1947 with his parents and six siblings (Lynn, Charlene, Shirley ”Mickey”, Lois, Bobby and Rae). Jerry married Beatrice McCain on December 3, 1957. Following their marriage, they moved to Spring Branch, Texas where they raised a family of their own.
Jerry served in the United States Navy from August 25, 1950 to June 11, 1954 with the rank of Seaman. He was stationed in San Diego, CA aboard the USS Pine Island (AV12) and was a Korean War Veteran. Jerry was awarded ribbons for the National Defense Service, United Nations Service, Naval Occupation (Asia), Korean Service, China Service and a Good Conduct medal. After serving in the Navy, he worked in the grocery industry up to retirement. He was a sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Houston Oilers/Texans, Astros and Rockets. He enjoyed watching classic western movies and listening to country music. Especially Garth Brooks and Doug Kershaw. Above all, his family was his pride and joy. To all who knew him, Jerry was full of life and laughter.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice Guidry; son Jerry Guidry Jr. and wife Marla, son Kenneth Guidry and wife Michelle, son Craig Guidry, daughter Sherry Guidry; and one sister Lois Solis; and six grandchildren, Christopher Guidry and Eric Guidry from son Jerry, Collin Guidry, Cameron Guidry and Allie Guidry from son Craig, Kyle Guidry from son Kenneth; and five great grandchildren.
Inurnment with U.S. Navy Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
