She was the youngest daughter of Ann Horrigan Lyon and James Edwin Lyon. She graduated from The Kinkaid School and attended college in Houston. She was presented as an Allegro debutante in 1980.
Jennifer was always happiest when she was outdoors; at the beach, in the country, or just walking her dogs. Some of her favorite activities were dancing, horseback riding, snow skiing, and water skiing. She was frequently an animal rescuer and cared for many animals by restoring their health through her love and patience. In addition to her passion for animals, Jennifer was also remembered for her love of children and music. She had a childlike quality herself and was adored by her nieces and nephews. Her family and friends describe her as artistic, beautiful inside and out, compassionate, fun loving, mischievous, spiritual, and loyal to those she loved. She loved to laugh.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ann Horrigan Lyon Hoy; her father, James Edwin Lyon; and her stepfather, Matthew Devoe Hoy.
She is survived by her sisters, Dana Lyon, and Melissa Lyon Johnson and her husband Houston. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Lucian Bukowski III, Dana Lyon Bukowski, James Simon and his wife Natalia, Cameron Simon and his wife Meg, Elizabeth Simon Cersosimo and her husband Nick, and Virginia Simon Murphy and her husband Mike; and her precious great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the special angels who became family to Jennifer and whose care and compassion blessed and sustained her in her final years.
The family will gather for a private celebration of her life.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Jennifer’s memory be directed to Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), 1755 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX, 77094; Sire, 4800 W. 34th St., Suite D-6, Houston, TX, 77092; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 S.
