Jeffrey Wayne Limmer, affectionately known as Jeff, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, departed from this world on Saturday, the 4th of May 2024, in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and a profound faith. Born to Margie and Jim Limmer on the 11th of October 1977, in Houston, Texas, he lived a life rich with passion for his family and friends, music, nature and a camaraderie with his AA community and brothers in Christ.
Jeff was a graduate of Memorial High School, Class of 1996. Most knew him as a star athlete and passionate team member, as the varsity quarterback and outfielder for the Memorial Mustangs. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a minor in Business in 2000. Jeff was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order at UT and embraced this distinctive brotherhood. He went on to pursue his Juris Doctor degree and graduated from South Texas College of Law in 2004. He began his law career as a landman, but eventually followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a dedicated personal injury defense attorney at Lewis Brisbois Law Firm.
Whether it was the soulful melodies of a blues guitarist or the electrifying energy of a rock concert, he found solace and joy in the rhythm of live performances. His love for music was only rivaled by his appreciation and respect for the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for him, they were a way to commune with nature and find peace in the great outdoors. Jeff also enjoyed his time in the kitchen creating meals and fostering fellowship with others.
Another huge part of Jeff’s life was his precious companion, Lola. He found her at Rock-A-Bully and Friends Rescue in 2020. She was never far from his side and provided him with happiness and friendship.
However, amidst the melodies and the wilderness, Jeff faced his own battles. Struggling with addiction, he embarked on a journey towards sobriety, a journey that would ultimately lead him to a profound spiritual awakening. It was through his newfound sobriety that he discovered a renewed devotion to his faith in Christ. From that moment on, his relationship with God became the cornerstone of his life.
In his pursuit of faith, Jeff found a new community, a band of brothers bound by their shared commitment to sobriety and their shared love for Christ and one another. The fellowship he found among his newfound brothers in Christ and within the AA community became a source of strength, support, and inspiration for him.
Jeff leaves behind cherished memories and a profound impact on all who knew him. His love for live music, God’s creation, and his unwavering faith will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing in his journey. He was a patriot for kindness, compassion, family and country, standing for what was right and bringing happiness to those he knew and loved. His laid-back smile and servant heart will be profoundly missed. Rest in peace, dear Jeffrey, knowing that your legacy of love and faith will endure for eternity.
