Jeffrey Norman Ebanks, 64 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 11, 1956, the son of the late Sybil and James Norman Ebanks. Jeff grew up in the Port Arthur, Texas area where he preceded to receive an Associates degree from Lamar University.
With strong family ties to the Cayman Islands, He always had a love for traveling, the water, skiing and fishing with his family and friends. Sports and music are both hobbies that were a source of joy in his life. Jeff held season tickets to the Houston Texans and always shared beautiful memories of attending games with his wife and would often boast of taking his daughter to the first home game as soon as they could after she was born. The soundtrack to his life would be an endless loop of the Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, and Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers, which he would happily be able to sing along to every line.
Jeff is best known by his family and friends as the man who could always bring a smile to someones face and will above all be remembered for his kind and generous heart. He never met a stranger and forged enduring friendships with everyone from neighbors, members of his church (Metropolitan Baptist) to co-workers at numerous jobs, including Impact Group. His contagious optimism always showed on his face as a giant smile, but nothing could compare to his love for his family. Jeff’s children and his grandson were his most cherished possessions, and it was evident in his endless dedication to their happiness.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Dionne W. Ebanks, and their four children; Jacob (Martha Ebanks), Colton, Samuel and Keeley, as well as his one grandson (of Jacob and Martha) Jonah Norman Ebanks. He is also survived by his one sister, Brenda E. Theriot (Randy Theriot), as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
