Jeff grew up as the 10th child of 10 children so there is no wonder he was a little on the spoiled side and loved by all. He worked in several aspects of the construction business and made friends wherever he went. He loved to joke, laugh and was just one of those people that never really met a stranger. One of his hobbies was collecting things such as Hot Wheels, coins and knives.
Jeff is survived by his son, Mathew and his daughter, Tory. He is also survived by sisters Dee Hutchins, Cheryl & husband Billy Matelske, Nelda & husband Blake Bowles and Lynette (Lyn) & husband Ralph Gibson, brothers Jim & wife Ethel Deaton, Randy & wife Belinda Deaton, Phil & wife Lynn Deaton, Rusty & wife Jackie Deaton, numerous nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews. Also, Jeff had a second family he loved very much and was so happy and content when he was cooking for them on the grill, fixing crawfish outside, working in the yard, flower beds or just managing the George B. Smith Transitional Living Center. He had found his purpose and was happy. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at this Living Center for being there for Jeff.
Jeff was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad and sister Janet Garrett.
The family would like to express gratitude for all who have joined in this Celebration of Life for Jeff. He will be greatly missed.
RIP Jeff.
A celebration of life will occur Monday, October 14, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home.
