It breaks my heart to be writing something like this of you so early on in our lives. Jared, you’re one of the best people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. You always knew what to say and never let life keep ya down. You put on a smile on my face just by being yourself. You always did what Jared wanted and there were no questions about it. You had determination, confidence, and a heart full of love. You could make any situation into a laughable one, yet always knew when to put the fun and games aside. I’m sorry some years went past and we became distant, but you were always in my heart. You are forever living in my memories with your note from basic training being the only thing I have from you. Thank you for being there no matter what 🖤 I love you, forever! Until we meet again..

I don’t think you knew it Jared, but your opinion weighed heavy with me. When I met John, and brought him home, I was so excited (and a little taken aback) just how quickly you embraced him. For the last almost 10 years, watching your respect and love for each other grow has filled me with so much joy. Even though I rolled my eyes at every mention of anime or car talk I walked into between the two of you, I secretly loved it. I’ll always cherish the phone calls I’d get from you asking if John was around and then proceeding to pepper me with anime questions and what John would like for Christmas the most. Even though I didn’t understand half of what you were saying, seeing yall’s brotherly love for each other made me so proud. You assured me I had found a good one. When the girls were born, I wasn’t sure how you would be. I had never seen you with kids, and by then, you had more than secured your roll as the ultimate tough guy. I will never forget the first time you met Addison. Every time you thought no one was looking, you melted and made the goofiest of faces and your love for her was plastered all over your face. I was officially a puddle. From then on, those girls had you wrapped, and you with them. I’ll always laugh remembering Addison coming home from spending the day with you and Mom. She went straight to her markers and colored all over her arms to be just like Uncle Jared. I will also never forget you pulling me aside one Christmas to tell me “Kristan, those girls are smart. They need to be pushed. Here’s what you need to do.” You then proceeded to give me all the advice I definitely didn’t think I needed, but secretly loved. I tried to keep the mind puzzle blocks meant for 12+ year olds you got them up and away until I thought they were more suited for them. However, like their uncle, they have a way of figuring out how to get what they want and it’s one of their favorite toys to tinker with. I also know every time I roll my eyes at their immense sticker 

Even though you were my little brother, you always stood up for me. You were three, I, ten, and we were at a Christmas party for Dad’s work. There was a fake snow pile outside for the kids to play in. It wasn’t long before some 12 year old came and stomped all over my snow castle. Before he knew it, he was on his behind, looking up at you pointing in his face and you shouting, “Don’t you mess with my sister!” Dad has always been so proud of that moment. I think even prouder once he confirmed it wasn’t his boss’ kid. As we grew up, on the outside, we couldn’t be more opposite, but your protectiveness over me never faded. I’ll never forget you asking for the addresses of all the people who were acting shady as roommates changed before I moved away to college for the first time. I was so nervous and crying to mom, I didn’t even notice you standing there, taking it all in. Your love was big, but quiet. You never cared about any recognition. You just wanted those you loved to be happy and protected. I still remember coming home to a cookie cake the night I broke up with my high school boyfriend. You had Dad go get it for me while I was at work, as well as told him you were ready to give whatever lesson the “ex” needed to learn. 
	

Your larger-than-life attitude and confidence were always funny, but could leave us a bit nervous, because we never knew what to expect. From screaming at the top of your lungs not to “hit you with a ball in your texacos” to all the Jaredisms in between, you kept us on our toes for 27 years. I’ll never forget the time we were at a Mexican restaurant. You had to be about four at the time. The waiter came over and asked if we were ready. You looked over at Dad, put your hand up, and said, “I got this”. It was then that you proceeded to stand on the booth, look the waiter in the eye, and roll your tongue, speaking some kind of language, that you so obviously thought was perfect Spanish. When you finished, you sat back down, confident as ever, wiped your hands on your pants and we all stared in disbelief. You smiled back at us, with your Jared grin and waited for the thank you’s and applause. You did always know everything, and were never afraid to share your knowledge and skills with the rest of the world, even if it meant the rest of us, who were clearly not on your level, got on your nerves a bit. I love the story of when a neighbor asked Dad for some handywork help at his house. You, being you, tagged along with your toy tools to offer your expertise and assistance. As Dad worked, you sat beside him tinkering away. The neighbor, who was from India, had quite a thick accent. He kept trying to talk to you and ask you questions. Finally, you had had enough. Sighing, you put your tool down real slowly and said, “Look man, I’m only 5. I don’t speak a lotta Spanish. I know hola, taco, and that’s about it. I’m just trying to work here.” With that, you picked your tool back up and finished your job. Looking back, it seems like your idea of customer service came at a young age. You’d always give the shirt off your back, you just didn’t have a lot of time for anyone’s ignorance, even if it was your own opinion. 




 Dear Jared,
	From the moment I knew what one was, I wanted a little brother or sister. I prayed for a partner in crime and begged Mom and Dad to give me a life long companion. I still remember sitting in the parking lot at Daycare when Mom told me she was pregnant with you. I had to wait almost seven years, but my biggest dream at the time was finally coming true. I couldn’t be more excited! While I know you came to resent it at times, once you were born, you were MY baby. I was so dang proud of you. I loved being involved in every bit of you and showing you off. But as we all know, you had a mind of your own and your independent spirit was unmatched, even at a young age. As we grew, and I watched you come into your own, I remember, even being so young, being in awe of you. You never met a stranger. At any event, you forged your own path. I always remember following you, secretly so glad you would lead the way, because before you, I was the shy kid, hugging their parents’ leg. Looking back, I’m sure Mom and Dad were grateful I was no longer quite as attached too! I always went under the guise that I, as the big sister, was looking after you, but in reality, I already looked up to you. 


I first met Jared at the Top Gun Range holiday party . He was definitely a goof ball and I enjoyed our candid chat (apparently to the manager, Kyle, it was too candid). But it was nice to joke around and be real. He will be a part of the top gun family forever. Praying for you and your family today and everyday.

Before you were born,   I remember wondering how I would love another child like I love your sister, but it all came together in my heart the moment I saw you through the nursery window when my heart melted for two.  I watched you grow into the sweetest little guy who was the only one at family gatherings that was kind to and loved on my pets.  The first time you met my cat Chloe, you turned around as she rubbed against your leg and you said “Oh!  And who’s this?”  It was the cutest thing ever.  Once during our Nephew/aunt stay over at my house- While watching your BlockBuster video cartoon movie choice,  you turned around and caught me dozing.  You patted my face with your hands and frantically told me to watch it with you.  You were so concerned I was going to miss part of the cartoon. Trying to fool you, I said, I am watching it with you, to which you replied “No, Aunt Judy, watch it with your eyes!”  I never could fool you, you were way too smart.  I watched you grow into a teenager, making your own way in life and always staying true to yourself and your beliefs.  As you grew into a young man, my heart continued to swell with pride as you enlisted to serve our country.  You are one of the bravest, most courageous (albeit one of the most stubborn people I have ever known aside from your Grandma Luchak) and one of the kindest souls I have ever met. You are a hero, and  I have always been and will continue to be proud that you are my nephew and I look forward to eternity when we will all be together again.  God blessed me when he chose me to be your aunt.  Till we meet again my beautiful nephew,  Love, Aunt Judy

Jared passed out on our way back from Mt. Rainier when he came to visit me in Seattle. We will miss you buddy. Till the other side.

I just wrote a 1000 word letter and accidentally refreshed the page. It's so hard to type it again all I can say is that I love you soo much brother . May we meet again.  Save me a spot up there buddy 

Jared was my closest friend since 5th grade. I still remember the first day of 5th grade riding the bus in the morning and the bus pulled up to your house, i saw you standing there and thought to myself, “awesome someone else who skates, me and this guy are gonna be friends”. We immediately hit it off talking about skating, music, girls etc. I didn't know however that you would eventually become a brother to me. We did everything together, we were partners in crime, I will forever cherish the days of us playing chess for hours, you winning 6 games in a row, going to shoot pool till 3am, you clearing the house at 8 in the morning when I’m making coffee (gotta make sure the house is clear before we make coffee) , or us play fighting in the kitchen when we should really be going to sleep, all the late night conversations we would have about life, sports, religion, stocks, guns etc. I am going to miss waking up in the morning and us teasing each other about who has to go to work. If he was off and i had to go to work he would yell “you gotta go to work dude? Sucks cuz IM OFF” and just walk away, it went the other way around when i was off and he had to work too believe me lol It was hilarious the humor him and I shared was something I've never had with anyone else. A effortless connection we had. He would give me the shirt off his back with absolutely no hesitation. I remember a week before this, i asked you if you had glock 17 mags at work i could buy, you didn’t even respond, you walked to your room and gave me one of your mags. The compassion you had for others was so honorable. I strive to carry that part of you with me.  I will keep these memories close to my heart Jared. I know you are looking down shining your light upon us, and I know you know, we all love you. One day we will meet up again and I look forward to you showing me around. I love you brother, rest easy. 

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Jared. Jared would come stay with us sometimes during the summer. We called him lemon drop, because one time he was staying with us we went to the movies and went to the store before to get candy. He chose lemon drops. He also had a hole in his pocket and when he started walking the lemon drops would come down his pants and roll across the floor. Ever since he was known to us as lemon drop. Again so sorry for your loss.

We went to go pick this car up a few weeks after our little race on barker cypress (which ended with us both totaling our cars)(he won) but thankful for insurance he found this car and fell in love with it haha just had to have it because “race car”, but he didn’t know how to drive a stick shift…. The guy selling it had a few other import cars like a Supra and an old Mr2 both built that he just had to ask about and the guy gave us a full top to bottom display of these cars. Jared just had to have this car.  I drove the car for him the next few days probably about a week or so till he was fully comfortable driving it. We would go to the Barry center after school so he could practice releasing the clutch and not stall. Nissan 300zx with magnaflow exhaust, aftermarket rims and 2 10inch subwoofers we found at a pawnshop. We went everywhere in this car haha every car meet we could find we were there. We topped the car out at 140 on highway 99 before the tolls started haha sketchy moment. Man I miss you more than words can describe but i know you’re at peace now. Love you bro 

Jared Michael (Part 2, continuation of Part I)
I will forever cherish every precious memory of you. Every sport you excelled at, be it baseball, boxing, roller hockey, football, skateboarding and on and on, fishing together, hunting, our trips to the rifle range, birthday’s, holidays, etc.  I think I will especially miss our (sometimes intense) conversations where you constantly tried to convince me that everything I know/knew was wrong.  God, I wish you were here to do that now!
I know in my heart that God has called on a Soldier Angel to enlist in his ranks where you will continue your God given mission as protector of us all and that we will all meet again one day in Heaven above.  But know this son, until that day, everyday for me as well as all those you touched, will be a little bit like hell on earth.

(Part 1, because I have a lot to say), 
Friday, 28OCT2022 was the most horrible day of my entire life, for that is the day that I lost my son, my friend and my Hero. Son, I have loved you since the day your mother told me she was pregnant with you and that love only grew stronger day by day over the last 27 years.  Yes, you and I had our Bullheaded moments. Your Mom says it’s because we are so much alike, but I doubt that.  Son, to me you were the toughest, bravest young man I have, and ever will meet. On top of being fearless, I was so proud of your deep love of animals, no matter what they were. You always seemed to take on any challenges and fears head on and with Gusto. I’ll never forget you  as a toddler, on a fishing trip in Rockport, TX. watching you walk down the pier with your little fishing rod slung over your shoulder and hearing you quietly grunting, “mm, mm, mm,” with every step. As I looked down, I said, “Good Lord Jared, you have a hook in your butt!! Didn’t that hurt?” To which you simply replied, “Yup”.  Even as a little boy, I saw that God had made you a defender of the underdog.  From sticking up for your buddies at sporting meets, to defending your older sister from any and all threats, hurts or heartaches, to the way you constantly worried about your mother and her safety and happiness.  When you volunteered to serve our country, I was the proudest Dad on the planet (although I thought you were nuts for volunteering to jump out of perfectly fine aircraft).  You were always so brave and full of Bravado you would accept nothing in the way of help from others.
I also curse the fact that you were so brave and protective, that you never let any of us know the apparent pain you were going through.  I just wish you had reached out and you and I could be together today. (See Part 2 for continuation)


The first line of Smash Mouth’s “All Star” might have been the only words you knew from that song but you made sure we knew them too! There was a bond between us that some would call electric, but that may be because we were the only two with the stones to get tased at those Christmas parties. You never had a problem educating ignorance but had little time for stupidity and  you filled our job and this world with energy, sarcasm and laughter. Thanks for the knowledge and the memories. Love you and I’ll miss you Bud.

My beautiful boy.  I am going to miss every single thing about you. You had the biggest heart, but the hardest damn shell.  I wish more people could have known that side of you.  I wish I understood it was actually the biggest part of who you were, but you hid it and your struggles because of it so well, even from me. I’m gonna miss our crazy conversations about whatever you were passionate about in that moment (and there were ALOT of those moments).  Some, I was right there with you, some I thought in my head,” just listen Donna, and don’t respond, and he might move on…” I’ll miss our stare downs where you would finally give up and look away laughing and your love of annoying the heck out of me until I finally got mad and you would walk away laughing still.  I’m gonna miss those crazy “house clearing” rituals and the way you had to look in every mirror you passed and yell at yourself, “I’M A BEAST!”  How you went from super tough guy to mush guy in your niece’s, Addison’s and Hadleigh’s, presence.  I loved your love for animals.  I am going to miss how sincerely protective you always were over your family.  I am so completely assured of your love for your family and your love for anyone you called your friend. I am so proud of the human I knew as Jared Michael Luchak, my handsome, beautiful blue-eyed, precocious son.  I will love you and miss you forever.  Mom  

Ah Jared, you were such a funny guy! We used to have this thing where one of us would say a bad word and the other would say “watch your mouth” and both of us being silly trying to actually look at our mouths!!! Oh the found memories I have with you my friend will be forever missed! The nights when we would all hang as a family and chill. I will miss you my friend along with that funny chuckle you get when you see something so stupid but cool at the same time or when we crack up jokes!!! Rest easy and with God we shall meet again!! Fly high brother 😘😘

It's hard to think you're not there to challenge my gear decisions, or chuckle when I realize I was wrong. That little giggle you'd get when you tried something new that you liked. Jared wasn't just a coworker, he was a genuinely true friend. We would've done anything for him and he did anything and everything to help us when we needed it. Rest easy homie.

I still expect to hear your laugh at the counter or a "What's up nerds?" coming from the front door of the range.

Bon fires, fire circle bricks, tractors and fences, hunting trips that yield nothing but good times, the "Lulu" revelation, talking about ladies and guns, anime (I finished it by the way and you were right, it was good), Pokemon, gaming, finding contentedness.
