Janet Juanita Kennedy (née Haygood) was born in Marietta, Georgia on September 19, 1949 and passed away to be with God on July 23, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Janet was married to Michael J. Kennedy for 40 years.
Janet was a beloved wife, mother to four children -- Tim (wife Aurora), Ann, Bridget (husband Joe), and Theresa (husband Ruben) -- and proud grandmother of five (two girls and three boys). As a member of Stephen F. Austin High School’s Class of 1969, she was the first woman in her family to graduate high school. After graduation, Janet worked in accounts payable for Gordon’s Jewelers in downtown Houston before marrying Mike, the brother of her colleague and dear friend, Kay. She often found herself the first person to volunteer at her children’s school and at church. She was a frequent room mother at school, PTA treasurer, soccer coach, Sunday school teacher, and Altar Society guild leader. She was an avid baker, she loved to travel, and she loved to be with her family. Her kindness was felt and will be remembered by all who knew her.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Leon and Cecilea Haygood, and by her three sisters -- Patricia, Audrey, and Phyllis.
