Our beloved Jane Goode Lynn Rothermel was born in Dallas, Texas to Josephine and Jacob M. Lynn, Jr. on the 23rd of December 1940, and passed away on Thursday, the 28th of July 2022, in Houston, Texas. She was 81 years of age.
Jane lived a life filled with so much goodness. She graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas in 1958, attended Principia College in St. Louis, and graduated from the University of Texas where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Jane made many lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout her entire life. She also enjoyed summer school at the University of Hawaii and attended University of Madrid in Spain.
Jane married the love of her life, Louis F. Rothermel II in 1965, and their honeymoon continued for the rest of their lives together. They made their home in Houston and were blessed with two cherished children, Louis III and Lynn. Life was filled with joy, and family and faith were the cornerstone of her life. Jane was happiest having a cup of tea in the morning and acknowledging the good in everyone and in everything. Her talents and interests were an expression of this quality. Home was the center of her affections, and the Rothermel honeymoon cottage garden bloomed with brilliant daylilies, and the home reflected Jane’s knowledge and passion for American antiques which was inspired by her parent’s example. She especially enjoyed serving as a Bayou Bend House & Gardens docent for many years. Everything about Jane was elegant and beautiful inside and out.
Jane was a member of the Junior League Sustainers Club, River Oaks Blossom Club, Antique Study Group, Houston Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi, and Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist.
