James Edward Swan went to be with his Lord on September 29, 2016. He was born on October 9, 1936 to parents Wiley and Maxine Swan in Joaquin, Texas. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend that will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. He served in the U.S. Army; which he loved God, his Country and his family. Jim is at peace now and will not be hurting anymore. He will be missed so much, but he is with our Lord. Jim is survived by wife of 53 years, Sharon Swan; son Terry Swan; daughter Kim Swan Newberry and her husband Rob; grandchildren: Casey Newberry, Megan Newberry Smith and her husband Nathan; great granddaughter Maddie Newberry Smith; two sisters, brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park & Cemetery with Reverend Scott Powers of Memorial Baptist Church officiating.
