Dr. James Hood was born in Michigan in 1922. He became a Christian in 1939 at the age of 17, and was active in his faith for more than 70 years. He served in the Ninth Army during World War II, participating in four major European battle campaigns. He served in the military again in 1950, during the Korean War. Master Hood taught Martial Arts for many years in his own studios. He held advanced black belt degrees in several forms of the martial arts, including a Seventh Degree Master’s rank in Shoto-Kan Karate from Toshi-Ryu Karate-Do-Kai of Japan, and a fourth degree in Kung-Fu from prestigious School of Master Binh Mai. He was a CPA in Houston, Texas for many years. Dr. Hood held degrees in both law and accounting, and earned his Doctorate in theology from Columbia State University. Left to cherish his memories: daughter, Janet Hood Johnson and son-in-law, Tim; son, David Hood and daughter-in-law Helga Hood; grandson, Max Hood, along with other loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wed., Dec. 29th from 5-8PM. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM, Thurs., Dec. 30th. Both services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
