James William Hardman, 91, entered heaven into the loving arms of his savior on Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was a long time resident in Woodforest, a charter member and Deacon of Uvalde Baptist Church. He was reunited with his parents, William Wesley and Mattie Hardman, and brothers Louie, Wayne, R.C., Frank “Soap”, and Alvin “Dink” Hardman.
James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years Frances Hardman and children Brenda Gore of Houston, Mike and wife Gina Hardman of League City, and David Hardman of Houston.
Affectionately known as “Papa”, he will be greatly missed by all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brian and Kelly Gore and their children Cody and Lauren, Courtney and Eric Nichols and their children Kennedy and Ethan, Katie Hardman and Gary Hudson, Maggie, Clinton, and Ryan Cottom. Many cherished memories are also shared by his brother, Harold Hardman and his wife Grace, brother-in law, J.W. Seay and his wife Pat, and sister-in-law, Loly Carter. James is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
Our family will hold their memories close to their heart. He blessed our lives with his generous, caring and gracious spirit. Through his dedication and love towards his family, church, and community, he was an inspiration and role model to all, young and old. His legacy is a loving and devoted family and strong Christian values and through us he will live on.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 4-8pm for friends and family at Howard Glendale Funeral Home, 1015 Federal Road, Houston, TX 77015. Services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10am at Uvalde Baptist Church, 901 Uvalde, Houston, TX 77015 and will be officiated by Brother Joey Gallaway and Brother Galen Cooper. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Cemetery in Houston, TX.
