James Albert (Bert) Ferguson of Tomball, Texas, dedicated father, brother, and friend, passed away on November 29, 2023, at the age of 66, after a long battle with cancer. Bert was born on December 6, 1956 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the fourth of five children to James and Beverly Ferguson.
Bert graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1975, and went on to study electrical engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. After graduating with a degree in electronics, he started his first job at AMF-Tuboscope as an electronic technician, which initiated a 34-year career in electronics.
In 1980 Bert married and went on to have one child, Ashley Ferguson. It was Ashley and her partner John Kosse, that provided loving dedicated care to Bert during his final illness.
Bert retired in 2011, and enjoyed fishing with his brothers along the Texas Gulf coast and in Cabo San Lucas. He was an accomplished drummer, playing with several notable bands, and enjoyed playing until shortly before he passed. He also loved gardening, building computers, and spending time with his beloved daughter. Bert was fond of all things technical and was passionate about resolving electronic issues for family and friends. He enjoyed hosting family events in his beautiful home, and loved his greater family very much. Although Bert had a difficult time battling his illness for several years, he never lost his silly sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beverly Ferguson, and by his sister Linda Ferguson. He is survived by his daughter Ashley Ferguson, two brothers Michael and Daniel Ferguson, and sister Lisa King and their families.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 on January 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
