James "Jim" Brown Cleland Jr.

James "Jim" Brown Cleland Jr., age 89, of Wagoner, Oklahoma passed peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas on Sunday April 1, 2018. Jim was born October 4, 1928. He was raised by his father, James Brown Cleland, Sr. and step mother, Edith Cleland.

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Velda Lee Cleland, his two daughters; Renee Holeman and husband Greg Holeman, Donna Marie Wilson and William Wilson, son; James Glen Cleland and Jerri Cleland, six grandchild; Travis Holeman, Bryan Holeman, Jeremiah Johnson, Candy Cleland, Luke Cleland, William Gary Wilson and one great-grandchild; Bannan Merrick Holeman.

Jim was preceded in death by his father James Brown Cleland, Sr. and mother Edith Cleland; brother, George Cleland; sister-in-law, June Cleland; step-sister, Florine Wolfe and step brother-in-law Jack Wolfe; nephews David Cleland and Douglas Cleland.

Jim was a proud member of the “Cherokee Nation”, and was a member of the “Telephone Pioneers of America”. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football.

A visitation for "Jim" will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM in the Family Chapel. Burial will follow at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
