Jackie Merle (Thomas) Alford, 94, of Pasadena, Texas passed away April 25, 2023. She was born to Shields and Lillie A. (Honea) Thomas on November 3, 1928, in Bedias Texas. She attended school in Evergreen and Bedias before moving to Houston to complete her education at Milby High School in 1945 at the age of 16. She enjoyed her time at Milby being part of the Milby Coed Cadettes Bugle Corps and winning Track Queen in 1944. At Milby she made many lifetime friends. Jackie continued her support of her alma mater by planning and organizing Milby reunions until she was in her late 80's.
Jackie retired after 20 years at Graybar Electric Company as head of Office Service. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. She will be remembered for her active support of the Ladies Auxiliary and her famous "Fruit Salad." She loved to plan and star in different programs for the members. Jackie never shied away from an audience. She volunteered at Bayshore Hospital for a number of years.
Jackie did possess a competitive streak. She loved a good game of dominoes or scrabble. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling and has many trophies to show for her accomplishments.
Jackie had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke or a funny story. She looked forward to her Christmas Eve family get together to share a story or two.
Preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Husband of 38 years Leamond Alford, and a great companion for 9 years Nolan Allen Young. Survived by 3 sons Jerry (Sheila), Tommy (Patty), and Ronnie (Dwainia), and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Above all else we know that Jackie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Bristol Park Conroe and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mother in her final days.
