Jack was born June 26, 1941 in Weeches, Texas at his home to Harvey and LaVada McKinney. He was the youngest of 5 children, Buck, Aldine, Jessie Mae and Betty. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings. He also was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Linda Kay McKinney in 1980, due to a tragic car accident.
Jack graduated from Crockett HS and married Hazel McKinney from Lovelady, Texas on December 24, 1960. They were inseparable for 57 years; moving to Houston to make a living as a meat cutter till returning to Lovelady in 1988 to retire. He loved to hunt and fish, but his passion was his garden and his yard at home, as well as, at church. Jack also loved to play tinkle can on KIVY and was known as “Lucky Jack”.
Jack gave his life to the Lord on July 27, 2008 at Georgia Camp Baptist Church in the Creek community and he was a faithful servant. He is survived by his wife Hazel McKinney; son Jack McKinney Jr. and daughter, Dianne Tippetts and husband Alva. He had six grandchildren: Michael Bird wife Randi with two great-grandchildren Aaleah and Maddilyn. Brian Bird married to Sarah with four of his great-grandchildren: Peyton, Emily, Brenden and Brantley, Barry Bird with two of his great-grandchildren, Rocky and Sylus, Jimmy Bird and three of his great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Aiden and Susie, grandson Kalvin Charles McKinney and granddaughter Misty Michelle McKinney.
Jack loved his family and enjoyed and loved his church family. He will be greatly missed by all. He is now with our precious Lord and we will see him once again some sweet day.
