Jack was born in Atkinson, Nebraska and graduated from Marshalltown High School in Iowa, during which he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Journalism and Naval Science. Jack was a Graduate of the F.B.I. Training Academy.
He served our country in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Captain. He served as Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Company Commander, and was a Pistol Expert and Rifle Expert.
Jack was a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Oklahoma City Office and the Cincinnati Office, where he worked on major bank robbery and fugitive apprehension cases. He was the head of the major case squad in Cincinnati, investigating bank crimes, kidnapping, extortion and interstate transportation of stolen property, and was responsible for the overall direction of bank crime investigation in the southern half of Ohio. He was personally commended twice by the Director of the FBI for his conduct of bank crime investigation.
Following years of serving and protecting his country and its citizens, Jack went to work for Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio as Director of Security. He and his family moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked as Director of Security for Coastal Oil and Cameron Industries. He headed a security firm in Houston prior to his retirement.
Jack was a member of the Society of Former Agents of the FBI, Inc., and was Chairman of the Cincinnati and Houston Chapters. He recently had been awarded recognition for over 50 years of membership in the Society.
He was a Lifetime Certified Protection Professional and Certified Fraud Examiner, and was Director on the Board of the Houston Chapter of the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He was an ASIS International Life Member, and served as Chapter Chairman of the American Society for Industrial Security in both Cincinnati and Houston. Jack was a long-time member of the Gulf Coast Criminal Investigators Association, where he served many years as the Co-Chairman (Business) on its Board of Directors, and was a member of the Texas and Texas-Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Associations.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Diane, whom he married in 1955, and by his children, Shawn White, Erin Perales and Dave Mack and their families, including five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and by his many friends. Jack was an honorable Marine, husband, father and friend. We will all miss him, and we take comfort in knowing that our lives were greatly enriched by his strength and presence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, in the Texas Liberty Chapel at Reflection Lake, with a reception to follow.
