Born on the 19th of August 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, DeWayne lived a full and rewarding life as a loving hero and husband to Sherry Rice and father to Cassie Parks, Rick Rice and Ronnie Tinsley. While he is best known for taking care of his family, he did so by providing for them with his hard work, dedication, craftsmanship and great natural born leadership skills, honed over nearly 45 years of working in the electrical industry in and around the Houston area.
DeWayne worked his way up the ranks of several local electrical contracting firms and in 1999 he co-founded The Rice Tinsley Corporation with his two sons. A family effort to create a company that he himself would love to work for became the realization of a life-long dream. The success of the company, along with the many family, friends and employees there, was as important to DeWayne as his own family’s well-being. He took pride in the shared success of everyone and above all else he ultimately wanted everyone to be happy, content and fruitful in their own lives.
DeWayne was fortunate to have retired to a well-deserved break from the fast pace of Houston life to the hill country near Canyon Lake in San Marcos, Texas. It allowed him to spend time with his beloved grandchildren and his two spoiled Vizsla dogs, Duke and Opie. The mornings found him changing the landscape of his land, mowing and spending time outdoors. He also had a fascination with coin collecting and loved adding new acquisitions.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his father Howard Rice and brother Roger Rice and is survived by his wife Sherry Rice, mother Ann Rice, sister Jackie Katz, brother Elton Rice, daughter Cassie Parks, son-in-law Brian Parks, son Rick Rice, daughter-in-law Tracey Rice, son Ronnie Tinsley, daughter-in-law Tina Tinsley and grandchildren Ira Parks, Tommy Rice, Ava Rice, Caden Rice, Brianna Tinsley, Ethan Tinsley and Logan Tinsley.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 4th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
