Born in Beaumont, TX on October 8th, 1944 to Moscelene Grace and Herman Melvin Myers Sr. He attended the University of Houston.
Herman was an unmatchable sports fan, cheering for the Oilers, Astros, and Texans. His love of athletics led him to join the "Fernando Llamas" softball team where he forged lifelong friendships with his team mates.
He was an avid golfer and member of the Pecan Grove Country Club Men's Golf Association, yet spent most of his time sharing himself with his family and friends. It was a date on the golf course that first convinced Katherine to take interest in him. They moved to Brandon, FL and Herman married the love of his life on May 5th, 1989. Together they loved to travel, and he brought her to such places as the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, the Florida Coast, Disney World, Colorado, Hawaii, and New Orleans.
Herman moved back to the city he cared for the most, Houston , where he went on to work for LEM Construction company eventually becoming the vice president. He worked tirelessly to preserve our environment for future generations and to provide the city with clean water. Herman was well-known and respected in his field, and an active member of the Houston Contractors Association.
Herman was an active supporter of the Arts, and loved to enjoy plays with his son. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and pushed his sons to be Eagle scouts.
Herman was a caring husband and a loving father. He is survived by his mother, Moscelene Grace, his wife, Ida Katherine, his many sons, Michael Bowling, Patrick Herman, Hunter Hayden, Ramses Yair, and Morgan Taylor, and his only daughter, Amanda Katherine Schell, his sister Susan Grace, his niece Kathryn Grace, and his grandsons, Logan Patrick and Oliver Garrett.
Herman's larger than life personality can now be seen in the lives of his loving family. Herman had a large heart, and cared for his children until his last breath. He was truly a living force of nature an left his impression on everyone he met. Herman now spends his time golfing with his father where the greens are always cut.
