"Long Story Short"Henry Nathaniel Edwards, Jr. was born on February 1, 1930, in Dawson, Texas, to the proud parents of Henry Nathaniel, Sr. and Jessie Mae Edwards.After high school, he joined the Army, where he received high commendations. He then earned his Bachelors of Science Degree from Langston University and his Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University. While in college, Henry earned his brotherhood into the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and later became a Mason.On June 22, 1958, Henry married Leona Jean McGlory and added to this union three children, Craig Alexander, David Nathaniel, and Norma Jean. They moved to Hugo, Oklahoma where Henry taught high school Biology, General Science, Chemistry, and Physics. He also coached football and basketball, and was a member of the Lion's Club and the Hugo School board. He attended and was a faithful deacon of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church from the time of his joining until his recent passing.Henry was preceeded in death by his parents and siblings, TJ, Warren, Dorothy, Ruthie Lee, Mattie Eva, Barbara Ann and Marlene. He is survived by his wife and children, son-in-law Rev. Stanley Kent Dennis, daughter-in-law Monica Edwards, grandchildren Briana, Cordell, Morgan, Taila, Jaia, Henry, and a host of nieces and nephews.Because the last year of Henry's life was spent in Houston, Texas, in the care of his daughter, son-in-law and medical family, all supporting documents of accomplishment are back home, in Hugo, Ok.
