Trinh My Hen was born April 8, 1951 in Soc Trang, Vietnam, but her birth was not registered until April 8, 1952. At 6:42pm on Friday, July 3, 2020, My Hen passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tran Truong Canh. My Hen is survived by her three children: Tran Truong Tin (Patricia), Tran Truong Nhan (Lorna), Tang My Tan (Johnny) and eight grandchildren: Hope, Cheri, Gwendelyn, Daniel, Elizabeth, Aidan, Nathan, and Leila.
My Hen was third out of nine children of Trinh Minh and Huynh Thi De. After obtaining her teaching certification, she taught elementary and middle school aged children in Vietnam. After arriving in the US in 1980, she made a lifelong career out of cooking for her family and raising her children and grandchildren.
She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her grandchildren to places such as Disney World, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, Arkansas, California. She traveled to many more places with her husband who stood by her side until he went home to the Lord in November 2014. My Hen also loved to spend time at the beach to fish and breathe in the tranquil air.
Despite not being able to see, My Hen learned to loom and made neck warmers and hats out of yarn for others. She learned to play the piano and practiced many hours without giving up just so she could play hymnals. She took voice lessons to learn to sing praises to God. She prepared delicious and healthy meals each and every day for the family. She never complained that life was unfair. My Hen always believed with certainty that God was just and He will take care of her.
My Hen leaves a legacy of unwavering faith, absolute strength, persistent perseverance, quiet longsuffering, and boundless love. In spite of all the challenges she faced during her lifetime, My Hen never allowed any of the difficulties, particularly her disabilities, to stand in the way of doing what needed to be done as a wife, mother, grandmother and most importantly, a child of God.
