Harold Murphy, 80, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Eudora, Arkansas on June 20, 1934 to Sam and Emily Davis Murphy. Harold was a loving son, husband, father, step-father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.
Harold grew up in Northern Louisiana and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked smart his entire life and became a successful businessman, achieving the goals he had set in life for himself and his family. Harold was an owner and operator of his own trucking company. He was honest and trustworthy and a man of his word. Harold was very well respected by his family, friends, and employees.
Harold and Juanita had a passion for anything outdoors. They both loved hunting, fishing, racing cars, boats, RV’ing with friends and doing things with their family. He was a member of the Mason’s, a Lifetime Member of HLS&R and the VFW.
Some may have thought Harold to be too tough or difficult at times, he was neither of those. He only expected people to do and be their best and for that he was admired by all.
Harold’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the love and care they provided to him and the family while in their care. His children would like to especially acknowledge their sister, Peggy Mock and her boyfriend Mike Boudreaux for dedicating themselves entirely to their father’s care over the past several months.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 58 years, Juanita Murphy; and his brothers, Billy, Donny and James Murphy. He is survived by his children, Cody Royston and wife Yvonne, Pamela Royston, Cynthia Anderson and husband Ted, Chip Murphy and wife Rhonda, Peggy Mock and Lorri Bates; his siblings, Charles Murphy, Virginia Beaty, Bob Murphy and wife Debbie and Helen Koger; his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as other loving family members and friends.
Harold was loved dearly by his family and will be greatly missed by all. The world has lost another one of “the good ones.”
