Gloria Ann Wade Allen was born on March 29, 1948 to the late O.C. Wade & Ruby Washington in Houston, Tx. She grew up in the 6th Ward & Heights area. Gloria attended P.H. Holden, Harper Jr. High, B.T. Washington and Jack Yates High Schools. Gloria was employed by Durham Community College as a typing, keyboard and data entry instructor. She took great pride in her speedy typing skills. In more recent years, she enjoyed the role of homemaker.
Gloria accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She became a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully went to service until her health prevented her from attending.
Gloria married Roland Allen on August 11, 2000. The couple enjoyed traveling (especially cruising), cooking and fishing. She enjoyed watching and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Gloria was a loving and caring person. She loved her family and was always ready to get together and entertain. She took great joy over the years in helping to organize and plan family reunions. She enjoyed family cookouts, frying fish, playing cards and dancing. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her cornbread dressing and sweet potato pies.
Gloria absolutely loved her children and grandchildren. She loved the title of “Maw-Maw” and thought the world of her grandchildren. She got great joy out of spoiling then. The grandkids were truly her pride and joy. She loved sharing and updating others on whatever the grandkids had going on. In her eyes they were perfect.

Washington (Dell), Ervin Green (Venerie) Dwight Washington (Kim) Sisters: Maudesta Jones, Denise Gould. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
