George Earl Sunday was born in Houston, Texas on January 7, 1948 of Austin Whitman and Frances Olivia Sunday. He attended Houston schools and in 1968 enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a jet mechanic in San Diego during the Vietnam Conflict. Honorably discharged in 1972, George returned to Houston and trained as a carpenter, becoming a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union of Houston and working locally in that profession. He married Katherine Anne Beale on July 5, 1980 and over the next forty-three years together they raised and loved two wonderful sons: Eric John Genis and Michael Austin Sunday (Christine Lourinho Sunday). Six amazing young adults call him Grandpa: Shawnna, Lukas, Angela, Cortney, Keanna, and Anthony. In 1985 he went into business successfully as George Sunday/Carpenter & Handyman, retiring in 2013 for health reasons. He was a long-time member of Katy Lions Club, Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, Katy, Texas, and of late a member of Katy First United Methodist Church, Katy, Texas.
Mr. Sunday is survived by his wife Katherine, two sons and daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, three brothers ( A.J. Sunday, Leon Sunday & wife Sharon, Royce Sunday & wife Cathy) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters (Dorthy Sunday Morgan and Joyce Sunday Couch).
George Sunday was a good and Godly man and showed that through many acts of love and giving to his family, friends,church, and community. He leaves this earth to dwell eternally with God and is remembered with love and respect by all who were blessed to know him.
