George Severin Hebert passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, August 5, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Georgie Langley Hebert and Moise Hebert, brothers Michael Hebert and Joseph Hebert, sister Elizabeth Marie (Bootsie) Hebert, son William (Bill) Hebert and daughter Lisa Marie Hebert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Rosalind Hebert, children Bonnie Mancuso, Gregory Hebert and wife Jamie, and Dana Faulk and husband Don. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
George was born in Houston, TX on February 2, 1939. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Houston and then attended college at The University of Houston for two years. He entered into the Army National Guard on October 15th, 1961 and was honorably discharged on May 30th, 1966. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad from 1959 – 1964 as a journeyman machinist. He was then employed at Cameron Iron Works as a machine tool repairman for 19 years. After retirement from Cameron, he worked in hardware at Lowe’s and Home Depot because of his further desire to be around people and his love of tools.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital for their love and continuous care while he was hospitalized. Thank you also to the ACTS community for their encouragement, love and support for George during his illness. The ACTS retreats in 2006 and 2008 were milestones in his life.
A Rosary and visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, August 14th, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77055. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 15th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, TX 77080.
