George F. Hairston, 87, of League City passed away on March 19, 2015. George enjoyed wood working, traveling and digging in the dirt. He was known best for always working in his garden and tending to his flowers. George was a committed member of the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Order of the Eastern Star and the Lone Star Lion's Eye Bank. George was also a World War II Army Infantry veteran, where he served as tank radio operator. Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Holly Hays and husband Danny; brothers, Charles Hairston and Dub Hairston; grandchildren Hairston Dean Larson, Sydney Hays and Cameron Hays as well as countless other family members and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5-8 pm and a funeral ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10 am. After the services at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, burial will take place at Sandy Creek Cemetery in Milano, Texas. Due to his struggle with blindness and in lieu of flowers, George would prefer donations, on his behalf, be made to Lone Star Lion's Eye Bank, PO box 347, Manor, TX 77653.
