Gary was born on April 29, 1956, in Red Bank, New Jersey to James and Marie Devlin. He was the third of four children, Dennis (Nancy) Devlin, Karen (Ross) DePaul, and Catherine (Kenneth) Kovar. He grew up in San Antonio and attended Scarborough High School in Houston. He continued his education at the University of Houston, later graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Gary married his high school sweetheart Rebecca Bridges on August 9, 1980. They were blessed with three children, Patrick, Thomas, and Laura. He was a loving grandfather to Rowan and Finn.
Gary was known for being loyal and committed to his work, beginning his career in the mail room and advancing through various departments and positions at Cameron in thirty-eight years. He retired as Vice President of Quality and Customer Experience in 2016. He achieved many professional accomplishments, earning the admiration and respect of his colleagues.
Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed fishing, surfing, playing basketball and golf, dancing to disco music, traveling, coaching sports teams, listening to the blues, and restoring classic cars. His greatest pleasure was received when spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife Rebecca Devlin, children Patrick and Amy Devlin, Thomas Devlin, Laura and Brett Berlin, grandchildren Rowan and Finn Devlin, and will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Everyone who knew Gary will greatly cherish his impact on their lives.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery on Sunday July 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
