Frank was born on October 22,1928 in Rising Star, Texas along with his twin brother Thomas Dwight Perkins. Frank grew up in Rising Star and Lockney Texas. He married Jeanne Ellen Reeder Perkins on June 19,1958 and they were married for 38 years.
Frank attended Texas Tech University where he received his BS in Industrial Engineering. After that he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. Following his service in the Navy, he attended Georgia Tech and received a Master’s in Industrial Engineering. He went to work for Humble Oil and Refining, now ExxonMobil where he worked for 26 years.
If you knew Frank, you knew his love for dogs and especially his late dog Bronco. The neighbors and their dogs always came by to visit for treats and love. He always bragged about having the best neighbors around and this was the reason he would never move. He loved keeping up with friends and family on “Spacebook” aka Facebook. Frank was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing portraits of his friends and family over the years. Everyone received a special birthday card with the envelope artistically designed just for you. It was his trademark. He was a meticulous record keeper of all things concerning his life and family, and had a memory like a steel trap until his final days. Frank was a very smart, generous and caring man who would give the shirt off his back to help others. His sense of humor, quick wit and stories will always be remembered and cherished. He was a true patriot and loved his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mabel Perkins, in-laws Harry and Pauline Reeder, his wife, Jeanne Perkins, his brother-in-law Harry Reeder, Jr. and twin brother T. D. Perkins. He is survived by his daughter Carol and husband Gary Leonard, son Terry and wife Susan Perkins, and daughter Liz Vanderhider and Ron Tate. His grandchildren Craig Leonard, Savannah and Brett Chambers, Zachary Leonard, Franklin Terry Perkins, III (Trey), Evan and Aaron Perkins, Christian Perkins, and Gavin Vanderhider. Great grandchildren Landon, Lee, and Cole Chambers, Sister-in-laws Beverly Perkins and Cinde Reeder, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner Rd., Houston, TX 77055. If guest were unable to attend, the family welcomed everyone to join the service via Live Stream by clicking the link below.
