Born on August 31, 1988 in Houston, Texas, he was a proud Aggie with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution and a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He served our country for 18 years in the United States Army and Texas National Guard. He was an Army Ranger Infantry Officer, of the 75th Ranger Regiment and served one tour in Afghanistan and Iraq. He retired with full honors as Captain and Company Commander for the 453rd Inland Cargo Transportation Company (ICTC). Decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon, and Presidential Unit Citation.
In his civilian life, Cass spent the last nine years working at Bell and McCoy Companies primarily in sales, collaborating with top architects and engineers to provide electrical solutions for major commercial, municipal, and industrial projects, including his favorite – Texas A&M’s ongoing campus expansion.
Cass is survived by his 11-month-old son Kayden Miller, wife Katie Miller, mother Deena Taylor, stepbrother Cody Taylor and stepsister Tiffany Taylor.
Cass loved life. He will be remembered for his goofy, spontaneous, funny, loud and loyal nature. He was incredibly sincere and sentimental. He was a passionate skydiver on his way to wing-suiting and a Master Scuba diver. He loved to travel, spend time on the beach and out on/under the water. Cass enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing and was an outstanding marksman (he definitely loved his firearms!). He had a way with people and if he wasn’t being social, you could find him at the gym or online playing Call of Duty. He was bold, strong and would do anything to protect his loved ones. Before his passing, Cass was able to enjoy his first family vacation to Turks & Caicos scuba diving, island hopping, and playing in the sand with his wife, son and father-in-law.
A funeral and memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29 at American Heritage Funeral Home. Family visitation is from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. Public visitation is from 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. with a service to follow from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. His burial will take place at the Houston National Cemetery for veterans at 1:45 p.m. with a reception to follow at Paradigm Brewery, Cass’s favorite family spot.
