January 22, 1934 – July 6, 2020
Frances was the sixth of eight children born to William H. and Dora (nee Thorp) Walther on the family farm in Bear, Delaware. Frances was born on January 22, 1934, and passed away in Cypress, TX on July 6, 2020 at the age of 86.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Rogers, and son-in-law, John Clemmensen, her sisters Sylvia, May, and Caroline, as well as her parents. She is survived by her children Tom Rogers, Dean Rogers (Terry), Donald Rogers (Janet), Donna Clemmensen, Debra Lowder (Allan), David Rogers (LeAnn) and Herb Rogers (Martha). She is survived by her grandchildren Taylor Rogers, Kyle Rogers (Chasity), Kate Provost (Cory), Jennifer Bowen (Brandon), Geoff Rogers (Lauren), Gillian Hawk (Nathan), Ryan Marrero (Danielle), Rachel Boyd (Adam), Kristopher Lowder, Sean Rogers (Tiffany) and Samantha Rogers. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings Dora Edwards, Wilma Gott, Ruth Scott, and Bill Walther, all of Delaware, as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
She cherished her CAPS senior citizen group at Cypress United Methodist Church. She looked forward to her weekly Mexican Train dominos game with her CAPS friends. She served for several years as the “birthday card lady” and was responsible for ensuring every CAPS member received a birthday card from her on behalf of the church. At the time of her passing, she had already addressed all the cards for July birthdays, so we just had to mail them for her. She was a long-standing member of CUMC, and a faithful servant of the Lord.
She was a devoted military wife for so many years, owning at times, the sole responsibility of raising the seven of us, which was no easy feat!! She obviously did a fantastic job, and we are blessed by her love.
If you asked someone to tell you something about Fran Rogers, most would mention her “giggle” and smile, she liked margaritas and the fact that she was so tiny and her kids are “giants". She was also known for her uncanny ability to remember dates of all kinds, whether it was the birthdays of her nieces and nephews (23 of them) or family event dates. Family would often say “Ask Aunt Franny. She will know.” She loved to travel, visiting with friends who she had not seen in years, as well as spending time with family. One of her greatest joys was attending yearly family reunions at the farm and get-togethers at the beach. Fran Rogers, known by most as “Mummum”, was loved by all those lucky enough to know her whom she considered an extension of her family. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, parishioners, and her beloved 4-legged best friend, Roxy.
If it is your desire to contribute in Fran’s name, please direct it to a charity of your choice or to her church, Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress North Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429.
