Frances Reyes, born 96 years ago on May 13, 1917 in McQueeney, Texas, returned to our Lord on March 29, 2014. She settled in Houston where she met and married Jesse G. Reyes Sr. in 1949. Together they enjoyed 65 years of married life. Mother passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amado and Angelita Rodriguez; brothers, Alvin Rodriguez, Amado Rodriguez Jr., and Gilbert Aguilar, and sisters, Delphina Martinez , Ora Arispe, and Minerva Ayala. Frances is survived by her husband, Jesse Sr.; sons, Jesse Reyes Jr. (Carmen), and Ed Reyes (Belinda); grandchildren, Tracy Reyes, Jesse Reyes III, and Lauren Reyes, and by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A special thanks to her beloved daughters-in-law, Belinda and Carmen, for caring for her to the last.
Frances retired from Foley’s after 25 years. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and her extended grandchildren. Her church was St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and Holy Name Society. She was a former volunteer for the Lindale Park Civic Club, where she enjoyed stuffing envelopes for their annual membership drives. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home, where a rosary vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., Houston, TX 77009. Interment in Houston National Cemetery will follow at 12:30 p.m.
