Fernando Gerardo Salazar passed away on November 29, 2024 at the age of 89. He was born on december 17, 1934 to Maurilio and Lorenza Salazar in El Cercado,Santiago, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the youngest of five children. He later moved to San Antonio where he met his beloved wife of 66 years, Virginia. they were blessed with three children: Susanna, Alicia, and Fernando II. During the 1970's he relocated his family to Houston, Texas.
Fernando dedicated his life to work and his family. He was a devoted Catholic and loved the Lord with all his heart. He also had a special reverence for the Virgin of Our Lady of Guadalupe and his services will be held on her special day; December 12th, 2024. He took pride in his grandchildren, Amy, Anthony, and Zoey and loved reading with them. He was also blessed to have a wonderful; daughter in law, Samantha and two wonderful son-in-laws Mario and Randy.
His hobbies included watching sports, especially his favorite the Houston Astros. He liked to garden, and grow citrus and fruit trees in the backyard. On weekends, he liked to grill his famous BBQ to the delight of his family. He loved to travel to new destinations and especially loved visiting family.
His wife, Virginia, selflessly chose to care for him at home along with the loving support of the family. The family is grateful for her care and attention to all of his needs. His family would like to extend sincere thanks to the following: Father Paul from St. Augustine's Catholic Church who was extremely supportive during his last days. to his caring and thoughtful neighbors and church friends, to all those who called and visited to life his spirits, to all those who travelled from out of town to attend his services, and to Accent Hospice staff for their support and compassion.
