Ezekiel Marshall, son of the late Mancel Marshall, II and Lillian Thomas Marshall, was born on December 20, 1944. He was baptized at an early age at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Waxia, LA. In 1964, he graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in Melville, LA. On June 26, 1965 in Houston, TX., he married Ella Martin of Collins, MS. Although no children were “born” to their union, Ella and “Zeke” played a huge role in raising a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
In 1968, Ezekiel entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was wounded and honorably discharged in 1970, receiving the Purple Heart Medal. Ezekiel’s work history consisted of working for Space Age Plastic for over eight years. He then went on to work for Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. PPC in Pasadena, TX as a Master Operator; where he retired with 34 years of service.
As a faithful member of Clinton Park United Church for over four decades, he served a Trustee; a member of the Finance Committee; and several other committees. Ezekiel was passionate and faithful about serving the Lord. He enjoyed traveling with Ella; talking to and spending time with his siblings and family; encouraging future generations; and discussing investments and finances. Ezekiel Marshall was also a faithful member of Lodge No. 184 in Washington, LA.
Mourning his departure, yet cherishing sweet memories that will last in our hearts and lives forever are: his wife of 54 years, Ella Marshall; one goddaughter, Therese (Elmo) Winters of Baton Rouge, LA; one godson, Dr. Isiah Marshall, Jr. of Brandon, Mississippi; five siblings, Jo Ann (Joseph) Glasper of Carson, CA, Bernice (Alfred) Broussard of Baldwin, LA, Lillian Carmon of Westwego, LA, Isiah (Catherine) Marshall Sr. of Houston, TX, and Maude (Willie) Nevills of Palmetto, LA; three sister-in-laws, Ruby Williams of Ecorse, MI, Cynthia Marshall of Houston, TX, and Hattie Madison of Collins, MS; brother-in-laws, Joseph Glasper of Carson, CA, Alfred Broussard of Baldwin, LA, Willie Nevills of Palmetto, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mancel Marshall, Jr. and Lillian Thomas Marshall; his sisters, Dorothy Marshall and Ruby Marshall Hill; his brothers, Samuel Marshall, Mancel Marshall, III, and Howard Williams, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Katie Martin; his father-in-law, J.B. Martin; his sister-in-laws, Katherine Marshall and Dottie Martin; and his brother-in-law, T.C. Martin.
