Better known to his friends as Armon, he was born on the 16th of October 1933, in Trinity, TX being the fifth of eight sons of Robert L. and Lela Blair Reeves.
He graduated from Trinity High School and attended the University of Houston.
Armon started a long career in Land Administration spanning 59 years for the following energy companies: He started at Amoco (now BP) in the mail room; Manager, Energy Reserves; Retired as Group Leader at Transco; Supervisor at Coastal (now El Paso Energy); Consultant, Ocean Energy and Devon Energy.
Armon was a dedicated bowler having participated in many leagues in Houston and ABC national Tournaments all over the USA. He bowled his first 300 game in league play. Armon & Delores traveled to the ABC National Tournaments to many states for over 25 years, having so much fun. Armon & Delores met at Stadium Bowling Alley in Houston. He was President of Amoco Bowling league and she was Secretary of the Southwestern Bell Tele. Co. Bowling League.
Armon is survived by his beloved wife of 41½ years, Delores Joy Arriola Reeves; sons: Terry, Mark; daughter, Karen Rainwater (husband Michael); stepdaughter, Linda Smith-Garcia (husband, Joe); granddaughters, Amy Sides (husband, Joseph) and Lisa; grandson, Caleb Rainwater; brother, Edelle; sister-in-law, Jeanie (wife of brother, Billy Ray); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Armon was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Laverne Keen Reeves, Brothers: Robert “R.L.” Jr. (wife, Audrey); Allen (wife, Marie); Rev. Gerald Francis (wife, Doris); Billy Ray; Doyle Wayne (wife, Cora); Dwight Douglas; Sister-in-law, Katherine (wife of Edelle); daughter-in-law, Kim (wife of Son, Terry) and Denise (wife of Son, Mark).
Armon and Delores loved traveling with special friends, Jerry and Clarine Mullen (who introduced them) around the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, and France. They enjoyed cruises to Alaska, Hawaii (favorite place), Nova Scotia and the Caribbean.
Also, Armon & Delores spent many years Square Dancing with the “Fairbees.” Armon was a dedicated Christian, attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church and was a devoted member of the Intercessor Bible Study Group. Armon was truly a wonderful husband, Son, Brother, Father and Friend beloved by all. A true Gentleman.
Visitation for Armon will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 14, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sugar Creek Baptist Church-Chapel 13213 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A reception will follow. A committal service will occur Friday, October 14, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
