Eva Marie (David) Austin passed away on Friday, the 23rd of June 2017, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Opelousas, Louisiana, on the 24th of August 1924, to Leonce T. David and Anita Marie Vandergriff. Subsequent to high school in Opelousas, Eva moved to Lake Charles to contribute her efforts as a member of America’s greatest generation. While there she met and married Lambert D. Austin of Bath, New York, who was in flight training prior to shipment to Europe for D-Day. They married on the 6th of February, 1944. After the war, they lived the American dream in Lake Charles and eventually made their way to Houston, in the Meyerland area.
Eva is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Lambert D. Austin. She is also predeceased by her 8 siblings, Mae Floyd David, Marguerite (David) Lafleur, Virdine (David) Perrodin, Leona (David) Moss, Nita (David) Moore, Polite David, Jeffery David, and Leonce David; son, Glenn M. Austin; and daughter, Phyllis Austin Blandford. She is survived by her son, Lambert D. Austin, Jr. and his wife Faith, and her daughter Daphne C. Austin Dyer and her husband Charles; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Encompass Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 7th of July, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston; celebrated by Fr. Skip Negley.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortège, at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Eva’s memory be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C., 20090-6011.
