Esther Garcia Salazar peacefully passed from this earth to the presence of our Lord and Christ Jesus on April 30, 2017 at the age of 88. Esther leaves behind an extended family who will dearly miss her loving heart, enduring kindness, generous spirit and open arms. She was born July 14, 1928 in a small town near Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Houston, Texas where she met her husband Crecencio (Jimmy) Salazar (deceased 1981). They married in 1950 and raised four sons, one daughter, and numerous grandchildren. She attended Sam Houston High School and was a faithful member of Primera Iglesia Asamblea de Dios and Faith Assembly Church. Esther was a wonderful cook who ensured that all who entered her house had something to eat, whether hungry or not. She’s who kept us all informed on family happenings, events, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Her love and guidance will be truly missed.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Mauro Castro Garcia and Josefina Marin Garcia; four brothers, Mateo, Paulino, Mauro, Moses; four sisters, Beatrice, Isabel, Florence and Herlinda; and her granddaughter, Melissa Salazar Garcia (husband John Garcia, deceased).
Surviving her are her sister Abigail Garcia and her brothers Raymond Garcia and Johnny (Connie) Garcia; her sons Harry (Marianela) Salazar, James (Cynthia) Salazar, Fred (Michelle) Salazar, Isaac Salazar; and her daughter Gloria (Hank) Sanchez; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous other family and friends who were blessed to know her.
Viewing, Services and Burial will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. On Monday, May 8, 2017, Viewing will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm followed by a Service from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Viewing will continue from 8:30pm to 9:00pm. On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, Service and Burial will begin at 2:00pm.
